Description

This universal circuit board uses the Commodore CBM serial bus protocol to emulate a Commodore 1541 drive and a 1530 (C2N) cassette drive.

Note: There is no "IEC" bus, nor an IEC C64 floppy drive. IEC stands for "International Electrotechnical Commission" and, in relation to the Commodore 64, is a fabricated misnomer used by some hobbyist projects dealing with the 1541 drive. This can also be verified on Wikipedia. Therefore, the correct term is Commodore Serial Bus, or briefly: CBM-S.

Using this board, a small universal 1541 drive including a TAPE drive can be easily and inexpensively connected to the Commodore 64. It can be operated directly at the TAPE port or as a standalone device with external power supply. It is also prepared for direct use on the uEliteBoard64, with the board plugged directly into the uEliteBoard64.

The firmware also includes a small file browser that can be loaded with LOAD"<-",8. Through this file browser, PRG, P00, T64, D64, and TAP files can be launched. It is also possible to delete files and create a D64 disk via the browser. Games that load multiple D64 files from a single D64 disk directory also function correctly.

The integrated 128x64 pixel OLED display shows the loading progress.

Additionally, even in the smallest version using the ATMega328P, EPYX Fastload support is already included, enabling very fast file loading (~200 blocks in 8 seconds).

The board offers three possible upgrade stages:

- ATMega328P
- ATMega644
- RP2040 Zero

Depending on which processor is used, additional functions become available.
